Swan Rangers along the Swan River (Keith Hammer photos).
Fifteen Swan Rangers skied and snowshoed the Swan River Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, January 19.
Bog Road is now frozen enough to ski with just a minor detour around one wet area.
The day started overcast, ended sunny, and signs of owls hunting rodents were seen!

A hoar-frosted bush frames Hall Peak.

A stregthening sun is reflected in the Swan River.

Any larger group will require a wider angle lens!

Hoar frost and lichen on an old fence post - just one sign of early homesteading in the refuge area.

This garden frog, however, chose to continue its winter slumber at Echo Lake Cafe!
The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.
They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.
Everyone is welcome!
