Eleven Swan Rangers skied and snowshoed in long-awaited fresh snowfall in Krause Basin on Saturday, Feb 23!

There was some 8" of fresh powder and it was still snowing hard in Krause Basin as the Rangers skied back out shortly after noon!

The Rangers gather, totally unaware of the deep powder that awaits them further up Krause Basin!

Unlike the bare valley floor, it's been snowing in Krause Basin!

Ahhhhhhh! The sheer joy of breaking trail in fresh powder!

Though there's some 4' of snow in Krause Basin, the warm winter has allowed the creeks to remain virtually ice free!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

Everyone is welcome!
