Looking up Wolf Creek Canyon along the Echo - Broken Leg Trail (Keith Hammer photos)
Twelve Swan Rangers hiked up Wolf Creek Canyon on a "hummer" of a day Saturday, May 31, 2014!
They saw two hummingbirds posing for photos and a wide variety of wildflowers!
Water is high and snow pack begins just beyond the Wolf Creek Crossing, but there is a downed spruce tree serving as a foot bridge just upstream of the trail.

A short pause at Deer Creek.

Feathery false Solomon's seal in early morning light.

Indian paintbrush is abundant along this south-facing trail in Wolf Creek Canyon!

A hummingbird lunch time companion poses in front of Flathead Lake in the view from "lunch rock!"

Wildflowers galore at "windy point" on the return hike!
The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.
They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.
When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.
Everyone is welcome!
