Swan Rangers Hike Strawberry Lake!

Sixteen Swan Rangers hiked to a still-mostly-frozen-over Strawberry Lake on Saturday, June 7, 2014!

It's almost summer in the Swan Range - at least the parts that face directly South!

The trail is mostly clear of snow and lined with glacier lilies . . .

. . . and trillium . . .

. . . until arrival at Strawberry Lake . . .

. . . where there's still enough snow to keep the mosquitos down and the beverages cool!

The trail side-hills the last mile to the lake and offers great views of Flathead Lake . . .

. . . while the south-facing switchbacks offer an occassional view of the Mission Mountains!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
