Fourteen Swan Rangers hiked and snowshoed Bog Road in the Swan River Wildlife Refuge under blue skies on Saturday, January 18, 2014!
The snow was mostly boiler plate in the morning cold, except when one would occasionally break through to the knees!
The Rangers saw a coyote and a weasel that had been killed by a coyote, as well as tracks of elk, bobcat and smaller critters.

The Rangers enjoy a crisp morning together, while soaking up lots of sun!

The clear, cold night and morning made for rime/hoar frost on Refuge vegetation . . .

. . . some of it quite feathery!

The Rangers explore the banks of the Swan River . . .

. . . disturbed only by the occasional jet - or bad joke!
The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.
They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.
Everyone is welcome!
