Eighteen Swan Rangers broke into several groups and hiked the Peterson Creek Trail on Saturday, November 9, 2013!

The trail has a lot of blowdown from big winds a couple weeks ago, but it turned into a wonderful sunny day nonetheless!

Whoa! Quite a group for such a gray morning in November!

If we'd stayed in one group, we could've just lifted those logs right off the trail!

The lead Ranger hiked all the way up to the old Red Owl Burn, while the caboose Ranger shot the top of it with a 50x lens instead!

This creek "crossing" is a little easier when going downstream!

Off to see the Wizard on the Yellow Larch Road!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

General big game rifle season runs Oct 26 - Dec 1, so it's a good time to wear bright orange while hiking!

Everyone is welcome!
