Returning to a bare Peterson Creek Trail! (Keith Hammer photos)
Ten Swan Rangers hiked the Peterson Creek Trail on Saturday, May 11, encountering snow and turning around at the junction with the Sidehill/Broken Leg Divide Trail!
It was a warm, blue sky day with wildflowers galore!

Still raring to go after hiking two miles of closed road to reach the old Peterson Creek trail-head!

Negotiating with a log for dry passage over Patterson Creek!

A calypso orhid stands out from a bed of dry twigs!

Oregon grape starting to bloom!

The blooms of June berries (a.k.a. Saskatoon) are thick and promise plenty of bear food!
The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.
They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.
When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.
Everyone is welcome!
