Fourteen Swan Rangers bushwhacked a steep loop through Krause Basin on Saturday, February 9!

On the mid-slope traverse between the north and south forks of Krause Creek they saw tracks of snowshoe hare, pine marten and lynx!

This is an area of key wildlife habitats that Swan View Coalition kept from being logged and roaded in 1984 - and since!

All smiles at the crossing of south Krause Creek!

The fun begins as the Rangers head off-track and uphill!

Lunch stop along the traverse and the sighting of pine marten tracks!

Finally; the downhill part and the sighting of lynx tracks!

Headed for home!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

Everyone is welcome!
