Swan Rangers Witness Life and Death!
Goldenrod Crab Spider on Showy Fleabane by Pat Jaquith

Swan Rangers witnessed the interplay between life and death during their outings this past week!

Scroll down to see the rest of their photos and details!

In our lead photo, Pat Jaquith shows us a Godenrod crab spider waiting to intercept and kill a pollinator as it is attracted to help a Showy fleabane flower set seed and new life!

Dani Mayberry's game camera shows us a cow elk and two young calves sharing a meadow with a Whitetail deer!

Pam Willison shows us fruit setting on Bracted black twinberry and . . .

. . . flowers that precede seed on a Bog orchid.

Keith Hammer came across some Fireweed and . . .

. . . went backpacking with his partner and youngest grandson!

Pat Jaquith came across an Orange-crowned warbler willing to show off its crown for her!

Ruth Quist says the sun on this wispy grass caught her eye and . . .

. . . got a photo of a Western grebe that apparently likes to part its hair down the middle!

And, in our parting shot, Ruth Quist treats us to another of her beautiful sunsets!

If you have interesting photos of your outings, send them along with a description to keith@swanview.org and we'll try to work them into these weekly reports!
