Swan Rangers found a tangle of species and interactions during their outings this past week!
Scroll down for the rest of their photos and details!
In our lead photo, Pat Jaquith came upon a young Great Gray Owl that appears to be wondering “who are you?”

Pat also came across a Golden Flower Beetle alongside a photo-bomb Mosquito apparently trying to draw blood from a Mountain Death Camas flower . . .

. . . a fawn Whitetail Deer stopping to smell the wildflowers . . .

. . . and a Western Tanager with a really big winged insect!

Keith Hammer found this Dragonfly hunkered down on camouflage, perhaps to avoid detection by a Western Tanager!

Keith also came across a Cedar Waxwing showing off its bits of bright color!

Pam Willison came across a Silver Berry/Wolf Willow while . . .

. . . Ruth Quist came across some Ocean Spray!

Lynn Smith came across some Indian Pipe and . . .

. . . a Mountain Goat doing what they do best!

Our parting shots show three species of plants sometimes considered invasive and sometimes not, depending on their numbers and location. Here, Pam Willison shows us Canadian Hawkweed while . . .

. . . Ruth Quist shows us St. John's-wort and . . .

. . . Yellow Salsify!
If you have interesting photos of your outings, send them along with a description to keith@swanview.org and we'll try to work them into these weekly reports!
