Swan Rangers saw birds and critters big and small during their outings this past week!
Scroll down for the rest of their photos and details!
While taking our lead photo, Keith Hammer watched the morning sun move in on a stream oxbow where . . .

. . . a Great Blue Herron was reflected in the water while the ripples in the water were reflected on the Herron!

Keith said this Great Horned Owl moved down the limb and in front of the tree trunk to be better camouflaged, but its eyes were still a dead give-away!

Lynn Smith shows us how Grand Fir cones drop their seeds by dislodging them from the top down!

Pat Jaquith shows us a Ruby-crowned Kinglet not much bigger than a small Larch cone . . .

. . . a Western Bluebird on a Blue Spruce . . .

. . . a Praying Mantis just hanging out . . .

. . . and a Robber Fly stealing a Yellow Jacket!

Pam Willison saw a Deer Mouse that wasn't afraid of her camera while . . .

. . . Chris Gotschalk found a nice little stream in the Swan Range!

Keith Hammer saw a family of Trumpeter Swans and . . .

. . . got a photo of an American Pipit!

In our parting shot, Lynn Smith reminds us that Fall has arrived, as witnessed by the leaves on this Red Osier Dogwood!
If you have interesting photos of your outings, send them along with a description to keith@swanview.org and we'll try to work them into these weekly reports!
