Swan Rangers Slog Krause Basin!

Cottonwood Bottom. (Keith Hammer photos)

Thirteen Swan Rangers slogged through a sloppy, slushy, snowy Krause Basin on a sensational Saturday, November 11, 2017!

They were reminded how much fun tracking of wildlife is during winter!

The Swan Rangers in their "V" formation!

Krause Basin is now decorated for the holidays, with snow snakes and all!

Eeyore was caught napping on a young hemlock tree!

This hare already dug his snowshoes out of the closet! Have you?

Tracks that looked like they might be pine marten.

This squirrel had found something good to eat down there!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game rifle hunting season is Oct 21 - Nov 26, so it is wise to wear "hunter orange" and other bright colors while hiking!

Everyone is welcome!
