Swan Rangers Ski Krause Loop!

"Krause Canyon" (Keith Hammer photos)

Ten Swan Rangers skied and snowshoed in Krause Basin on a wintery Saturday, February 16, 2019!

The skiers skied up Strawberry Lake road and broke trail down through Cottonwood Bottom, while the lone snowshoer broke trail in a ways from below!

Lots of trail-breaking this past week with fresh snow most every day!

Boot deep snow - in the parking lot!

Even the main Strawberry Lake Road can get pretty peaceful during winter!

Big hemlock trees tower over the Krause Basin Nature Interpretive Trail!

South Krause Creek is down under there somewhere!

Ditto for the MIddle Fork!

The always splendid Cottonwood Bottom!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
