A few Swan Rangers hiked up into the clouds to help Flathead Audubon count migrating raptors along the Swan Crest, as shown in our lead photo by Keith Hammer.
On his way back down from "Hawk Watch," Keith found this Clark's nutcracker prying seeds out of a Whitebark pine cone and . . .
. . . stashing them in the pouch under its tongue before flying off to bury them for later eating!
Ruth Quist's photo shows lots of Mountain maple seeds for the birds this winter!
Pam Willison is keeping an eye on the young Wild turkeys, hoping they get big enough to survive the winter snow!
Pat Jaquith brightens our day with this photo of a Townsend's warbler!
Skip Via found "a caterpillar cleverly disquised as a Timothy grass flower head!"
Dani Mayberry shows us a nice view from Wildhorse Island and . . .
. . . Lynn Smith shows us a Garter snake out for a swim!
In our parting shot, Keith Hammer suggests that hiking is a good way to reflect on life!
