Swan Rangers Ski Bear and Beyond!

A glimpse of Flathead Lake between Crane Mtn. and Swan Hill! (Keith Hammer photos)

Seven Swan Rangers skied and snowshoed in the Bear Creek area on a balmy Saturday, February 2, 2019!

They enjoyed the thaw and warm snow before the big freeze forecast for later in the day and night!

Part of the gang turning around at the Peterson Creek trailhead for the long glide back to the cars!

Both sun and rainshowers were spotted in the Swan Valley - and a clap of thunder was heard!

While it looks snowy enough in some places . . .

. . . let's hope the cold front indeed brings more snow - it is February after all!

Jump!

There are birch tree seeds scattered everywhere, as though they are waiting for Spring!

In the meantime, this spring near Bear Creek will have to do!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
