Swan Rangers See Clouds From Both Sides!

Snowshoe hare tracks on Swan Crest by Chris Gotschalk.

Swan Rangers saw a bit of sun and lots of clouds during their outings this past week!

Click here or scroll down for the Rangers' photos and details!

In our lead photo, Chris Gotchalk and a snowshoe hare demonstrate that the best snow and sunniest sky are up high!

Pam Willison shows us some cloud layers over Flathead Lake while . . .

. . . Dani Mayberry caught a blue sky flipping back into a foggy inversion along the Swan Range!

Norma Linsky caught the sun peeking through and lighting up this nice winter stream scene!

Pat Jaquith shows us what a thorough job of managing insects a Black-backed woodpecker can do, . . .

. . . even if it has to debark the entire tree!

Pat Jaquith also found a House finch eating the fruit of a Hawthorne bush.

Linda Anderson found these "pistol-butt" trees, usually a sign of soils creeping slowing downhill or, on steeper slopes, the snow pack creeping downhill!

Keith Hammer found a clear spot in the sky and got a photo of a crescent moon waxing to be full the day after Christmas!

In our parting shot, Pam Willison shows us there is even a bright side to rain in mid-December!
