Swan Rangers Hike Switchback!

Mud, Echo and Flathead Lakes! (Keith Hammer photos).

Twelve Swan Rangers hiked the Switchback Trail up to the shoulder of Mount Aeneas on Saturday, November 8, 2014!

It was a gorgeous, sunny Fall day - and perhaps one of the last for a while with frigid temps and snow in the forecast!

REMINDER: Swan View Coalition's annual membership meeting is Sunday, November 16, 4pm, followed by potluck at 5 and a music jam session - all at the Mtn. Brook Community Library, 2353 Foothill Road!

Mount Aeneas beckons to willing hikers near the Echo Lake Cafe!

Hiking every-which-way up the switchbacks!

Hoary frost on hairy leaves!

Half the Rangers at Malfunction Junction . . .

. . . and the other half on a knob just above!

Looking north across Noisy Basin to Infinity Ridge at center, with Peters Ridge and the northern Swan Crest beyond!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game rifle season runs Oct 25 - Nov 30, so best to wear "hunter orange" while hiking!

Everyone is welcome!
