Swan Rangers Hike Sucker Hole Sun!

Destination: Snow line on Peters Ridge (Keith Hammer photos)

Nine Swan Rangers hiked Peters Ridge Road with a "sucker hole" promise of sunny weather on Saturday, December 20, 2014!

The sunny weather failed to stick around, but it was a good bit of exercise and fun companionship nonetheless!

Wikipedia: "Sucker hole is a colloquial term referring to a short spate of good weather that "suckers" sailors into leaving port just in time for a storm to resume at full force."

Big blue "sucker hole" just north of the Echo Lake Cafe!

Ice gave way to snow as the road gradually climbed the side of Peters Ridge.

A glimpse of Strawberry Mountain and its avalanche slopes!

Turning around at "the overlook," with Infinity Ridge and Spider Bowl as a backdrop.

Echo and Flathead Lakes from "the overlook." Is that a sunny sucker hole south of Flathead Lake?

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

Everyone is welcome!
