Swan Rangers Hike Foothills Ski Area!

Still waiting for enough snow to ski the foothills! (Keith Hammer photos)

Eighteen Swan Rangers hiked the Foothills Ski Area on Saturday, December 12, removing several deadfall from the trails in anticipation of snow!

Once enough snow falls and North Shore Nordic begins grooming these ski trails (also known as the Bigfork Community Nordic Center), however, hiking there is a no-no and snowshoes or skis are required!

More glacial erratics along the ski trail!

Bear tracks: what you see the day after you remove the bear spray from your pack belt for the season!

Some beautiful lungwort on a tree near Noisy Creek!

It was a great day and sky for photographing trees with cones. Can you guess what kind of trees in this and the following two photos? (Answers at end of posting).

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

Everyone is welcome!
