Fifteen Swan Rangers broke into groups and hiked to Bond Falls on Saturday, August 2, with most continuing on to Bond Lake!

Bond Falls offer a cool and refreshing stop along the way!

The bridge over Bond Creek has seen better days, but still does the trick!

 

Indian Pipe lacks chlorophyl, so it feeds off of myccorhizal fungi, which in turn feed off of trees in exchange for improving the absorption capabilities of the tree roots!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.
