Swan Rangers Hike Beardance to Phillips!

A view of Flathead Lake from the Phillips Trail! (Norma Linsky photos)

Ten Swan Rangers hiked the Phillips Trail on a partly sunny Saturday, November 24, 2018!

They hiked out and back from the Beardance Trailhead on Highway 35 to the Phillips Trailhead on Crane Mountain Road.

A pause on a log alongside Crane Creek.

A pause on a log at "the overlook," where the views of Flathead Lake are priceless!

The upper portion of Phillips Trail crosses Mauzey Creek.

A bit of green amongst the snow and rocks!

Emerging from cedar forest to the Phillips Trailhead; the turn-around spot!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
