Swan Rangers Hike and Clear Hemler Creek Trail!

Hemler Creek Trail offers nice views of Lake Blaine and the Flathead Valley! (Keith Hammer photos)

Fourteen Swan Rangers hiked the Hemler Creek Trail on Saturday, August 30, with most continuing on up to Alpine Trail #7 atop the Swan Crest!

They also removed several downed logs from the trail in the upper meadows, which were likely still buried in snow when trail crews may have visited earlier this summer!

Sure, everybody looks bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at the front end of a 12-mile hike . . .

. . . but everybody is ready for a sit-down lunch by mile 5!

A speedy crossing of South Hemler Creek!

Lichens on a limb: part of the Swan Range Mountain Gladness Air Show!

Baneberry (don't eat).

Mountain Ash.

Bearly a huckleberry in site along the Hemler Creek Trail!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
