While the Swan Ranger Saturday group outings remain suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will get a report out each week with items of interest to folks trying to get outside for some "social distancing" and spirit-calming fresh air.
Joel sent in the above photo of Lena Lake taken during his hike to Firebrand Pass.
Pat Jaquith sent in this photo of a Yellowlegs and a Killdeer, taken during a hike with Mary at Pig Farm trails . . .
. . . as well as this nice photo of a mule deer buck "in the velvet!"
Roger Benson hiked part way up Columbia Mountain and sent in this photo with the Flathead River and Columbia Falls in the background.
Keith's Saturday morning started out cool with interesting clouds . . . (Keith Hammer photos)
. . . as a thunderstorm moved over Peters Ridge. Then he made the mistake of checking out DNRC's cleanup logging of blow-down trees in lower Krause Basin!
Hemlock forest with some blowdown that was not cleaned up . . .
. . . and adjacent hemlock forest that was "cleaned up!"
A big grandpappy hemlock tree needlessly scarred up by logging equipment!
He persisted, however, and did find an undisturbed area with fireweed blooming.
