Swan Rangers Explore New Foothills Ski Trails!

The sun trying to emerge from the Swan Valley! (Keith Hammer photos)

Thirteen Swan Rangers explored the new Foothills ski trails being cleared by North Shore Nordic on a pleasant Saturday, December 3, 2016!

The new trails will add a whole new dimension to the Bigfork Community Nordic Center: UP!

Once groomed, the ski trails are not to be hiked.

The recently cleared trails climb up the hillside a ways, revealing views of the Mud Lake area . . .

. . . as well as Flathead Lake, Lakeside and Blacktail Mountain!

The fun part about taking a wrong turn is how the last person in line all of a sudden becomes the first in line!

It's beginning to look a lot like skiing!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
