Bigfork artist Elmer Sprunger is well known for both his wildlife art and his lively cartoons that have long graced the Bigfork Eagle. “There's so much to enjoy in the Swan Range and the best way to see it is on your own two feet.” Jerry says.  Adds Elmer: “You can take all sorts of medicines for stress.  But nothing beats hiking or riding a horse into the Swan Range to relieve stress and worries of the world.”

The Swan range is an important refuge for people, plants, and wildlife, from the increasingly hectic lifestyle that has become the Flathead Valley.  I love going to Jewel Basin and will continue to explore other trails and drainages.  Let’s all use wisdom and foresight regarding treasures such as the Swan Range.
