Westslope cutthroat trout caught at Jenny Lake

Like many alpine lakes in the Swan, Jenny Lake is stocked with westslope cutthroat trout, Montana’s state fish. Like bull trout, westslope cutthroat trout need cold, clean water to survive. Captain Meriwether Lewis, of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, declared the westslope cutthroat trout “sumptuous.” Many anglers still agree.
