MILEPOST 44 - Wildcat Lake

Snowshoers are awarded a grand winter view of the Swan Crest from the peak above Wildcat Lake, in the northern corner of Jewel Basin Hiking Area.

You’re lucky if you see any one of the three wildcats that live in the Swan Range. You are much more likely to see their tracks in the snow. The lynx is a threatened species and northwest Montana is one of its last strongholds.
