Imagine living in this rugged landscape year round. Because the high country receives many feet of snow each year, many animals including elk, deer and bears travel to the low lands during the winter or spring in order to survive. Unfortunately for them, 23,000 acres of low-elevation habitat was flooded under Hungry Horse Reservoir in the 1950s.
