Locals say nearby Strawberry Mountain looks like an upside-down strawberry. While you may find small, flavorful wild strawberries here, a better bet is to look for huckleberries. Huckleberries are an essential food for grizzly bears fattening up before going into winter hibernation, but there are generally plenty to share. Depending on the elevation, hucks ripen from late July through August.
