Dani Mayberry shows us in our lead photo that the Swan Range remains snow-capped while Flathead Lake has emerged from its shoreline rim of Winter ice.

Keith Hammer shows us mycelia emerging from beneath the ice and snow on the forest floor . . .

. . . Skunk cabbage emerging from thawing wetlands . . .

. . . and a spring that remained green all Winter, unlike the grass around it.

He also reminds us that birds are pairing up for nesting, as with this pair of Mallard ducks, while . . .

. . . Pat Jaquith reminds us that birds will sing their hearts out to celebrate Spring and attract mates, as with this Red-winged blackbird and . . .

. . . Western meadowlark!

Pat also shows us it is time for instects to help pollinate wildflowers, as does this Tachnid fly on pussytoes, while . . .

. . . Skip Via shows us the details of Crocus pollen being spread by a Mining bee!

Pam Willison's photo of a tree conk reminds us that fungi that spread via spores nonetheless show off their beauty . . .

. . . as do these teasle that long ago cast their seeds nearby or had them distributed by birds (Keith Hammer photo).

In our parting shot, Ruth Quist provides us a sneak preview of the Easter Bunny! Stay tuned!
