Swan Rangers Survive Outing #666!

Thirteen Swan Rangers hiked a loop through Elk Springs for outing #666 on a suspiciously splendid Saturday, September 15, 2018!

Those not suffering from hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia or hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia had a devil of a good time!

The Swan Rangers took their first outing on November 12, 2005, and have only missed a couple Saturdays since!

Rangers smiling, having forgotten this short hike is nonetheless a 9 mile loop!

And some of it, like about half, is uphill!

But it sure gets pretty up there around Elk Springs!

Lunch is best had between a rock and a hard place!

Fresh woodpecker work on an old snag!

The Rangers hiked in via Bear Creek and out via Wolf Creek, finding the bears appear to like Wolf Creek better!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
