Swan Rangers continued to get outdoors and take in what Spring has to offer in the week ending May 16, 2020!

While the Swan Ranger Saturday group outings remain suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will get a report out each week with items of interest to folks trying to get outside for some "social distancing" and spirit-calming fresh air.
Joel continues to photograph lots of triple and quadruple wildflowers on Blacktail Mountain, as shown above.
Pat, Mary and Norma hiked in the Bear Creek area, hiking as far as Patterson Creek via the Bear Creek Road and Peterson Creek Trail. Click here for a map. (Norma Linsky photos)
They also hiked the old road that heads from Bear Creek to Wolf Creek, finding it sawn open enough for hiking, then taking this photo of and reporting the Elk Springs Trail as a "quagmire!"
Pat Jaquith sent in this photo of the Townsend's solitaire nest on a retaining wall in their yard, reporting the birds have gotten quite used to the humans around!

The Sprunger - Whitney Trail is currently showing off lots of trilium, violets both yellow and purple, elusive Calypso orchids, and the lupine is about to flower! Here Pam Willison captured what we think is very young horsetail. What do you think?
