Swan Rangers Ski North Krause!

Crossing South Krause Creek! (Keith Hammer photos except the last)

Ten Swan Rangers skied up the North Fork of Krause Creek on a warm Saturday, January 13, 2018!

Several turned around early, trading in the mashed potatoes for the groomed trails at the Foothills Ski Area (North Shore Nordic)!

Swan Rangers in "V" formation, which often happens when more than one Audubon member shows up!

The snowy allure of Krause Basin . . .

. . . provided you are not intimidated by scantly clad snow ghosts leaning in for a closer look at you!

North Krause Creek, with a snow bridge someone crossed a while ago! Peters Ridge Road is a half-mile further thataway!

Meanwhile, several Rangers take a selfie while crossing Noisy Creek! A grizzly bear is reportedly still out of its den and leaving tracks around these parts!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking or skiing in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
