Swan Rangers paddled and hiked during the week ending July 25, 2020, seeing flowers everywhere!

While the Swan Ranger Saturday group outings remain suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will get a report out each week with items of interest to folks trying to get outside for some "social distancing" and spirit-calming fresh air.

 

Keith and Pam hiked to Lamoose Lake via the Peters Ridge Trail and report the wildflowers are peaking at higher elevations, including this hillside where the switchbacks climb to Bee Notch. Click here for a 20-second video showing why the Swan Rangers call it Bee Notch!

 

They also saw flowering elk thistle . . .

 

. . . Brewers mitrewort . . .

 

. . . red-stemmed saxifrage . . .

 

. . . showy Jacob's ladder . . .

 

. . . and buds on what might be a whitebark pine . . .

 

. . . along with several swallow-tail butterflies!

 

This grouse hiked along with them for almost a quarter-mile until it became obvious it wanted its photo in a Ranger Report!
