Swan Rangers On and Off the Farm!

Swan Mountain sunrise! (Chris Gotschalk photo)

Swan Rangers found interesting things to photograph both on and off "the farm" in the week ending Saturday, December 19, 2020!

Click here or scroll down for the Rangers' photos and details!

While the Swan Ranger Saturday group outings remain suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will get a report out each week with items of interest to folks trying to get outside for some "social distancing" and spirit-calming fresh air.

Captain Chris Gotschalk took the photo above from his house near the Swan River, writing "Red in the morning, sailor's warning!"

Philippa Goninan had already sent in this photo of sunshine on their farm in Australia, where it appears they raise "oreo cattle" and big spider webs in addition to "undecided" snakes!

Pam Willison was amazed to see this squirrel hanging by its rear "knees" to feed on mountain maple seeds, also known as samaras, or helicopters for the way they whirl around as they drift to the ground!

She didn't even need to leave her yard to get in a stare down with wildlife!

Joel Vignere got "off the farm" and took this photo of Mt. St. Nicholas during his hike up the Huckleberry Lookout Trail!

He also got this great shot of frost left behind by the cold air trapped underneath the inversion's warmer air above!

Linda Anderson sent in this photo of her group hike to Noisy Creek!

Keith Hammer spent parts of three days hiking around in Krause Basin, admiring the deeper snow above . . .

. . . and Flathead Lake below!

The Swan Ranger Saturday group outings remain suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic.

If you have interesting photos of your socially distant times outdoors, send them along with a description to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and we'll try to work them into these weekly reports!
