Swan Rangers Hike Peterson Creek Trail!

Mock orange along the road! (Keith Hammer photos)

Thirteen Swan Rangers hiked the Peterson Creek Trail on a sunny Saturday, June 24, 2017!

They turned around at the junction with Trail 353. After July 1, the gate on Road 5398 will open and shave 1.2 miles off this hike, making the old Red Owl burn and its fantastic views a bit easier to achieve!

Even short of the vistas in the old Red Owl burn, this trail offers glimpses of Flathead Lake!

No hike this summer is complete without beargrass . . .

. . . lots of beargrass!

Mariposa lilies are also abundant this year!

Indian paintbrush.

A western tanager paid a quick visit during lunch!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
