Swan Rangers Hike Peters Ridge!

Southerly view from Peters Ridge! (Keith Hammer photos)

Fourteen Swan Rangers hiked the Peters Ridge Trail on a sunny Saturday, October 28, 2017!

They turned around in various stages as the trail got icier, snowier, then deeper!

Click here for a map of the Peters Ridge Trail.

What started out as a yellow leaf road . . .

. . . soon turned into a snowy trail that . . .

. . . got all the more snowier and post-holier . . .

. . . until the remaining Rangers finally decided to turn around . . .

. . . at the headwaters of Browns Creek and within sight of Bee Notch and the Swan Crest!

They returned, however, with no twisted ankles or knees . . .

. . . and looking a bit better for wear than this gnawed-on sign board!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills (times just shifted an hour later for winter).

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game rifle hunting season is Oct 21 - Nov 26, so it is wise to wear "hunter orange" and other bright colors while hiking!

Everyone is welcome!
