Swan Rangers Hike Bee Notch!

Eight Swan Rangers hiked the Peters Ridge Trail to the Swan Crest's Bee Notch on a sunny Saturday, July 20, 2019!

With wildflowers in full bloom, the bees were busy flying pollen and nectar over the Swan Crest!

While the Rangers made a single trip over the Swan Crest . . .

. . . wild bees were making multiple trips through the low point where the trail crosses over!

Lots of wildflowers for the bees to choose from . . .

. . . including arrowleaf groundsel . . .

. . . and aster!

Bear grass is still blooming in this shadow-selfy looking down the lush avalanche chute that converges to become Browns Creek!

Great Northern Mountain in the Flathead Range can be viewed from Bee Notch, as well as peaks in Glacier National Park!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
