Swan Rangers Hike Bear to Wolf!

All smiles in spite of the drip! (Pam Willison photos except one)

Seven Swan Rangers hiked from Bear Creek to Wolf Creek on a drippy Saturday, December 7, 2019!

They cut some "leaners" and brush from the old road, but had to leave a couple bigger downed trees for someone with a chain saw!

This Ranger has lightening-fast hands when sawing brush! (Norma Linsky photo)

A couple of small bubble-up springs showing signs of freezing weather!

One of many heavily-used game trails that cross the old road.

Scat along the way; coyote, fox, ?

This blown-down aspen tree shows that aspen bark contains significant amounts of green chlorophyll - with some 30 - 50% of the photosynthetic capacity as the leaves!

Some birch trees lean over Wolf Creek also!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
