Swan Rangers Hike Arctic Blast!

Three Swan Rangers hiked the Swan River Nature Trails on an arctic blast Saturday, March 14, 2020!

The Echo Lake Cafe was jammed with people who couldn't cook at home due to overnight power outages caused by high winds and downed trees!

CORONAVIRUS ALERT: The Swan Rangers will continue to meet for Saturday outings provided the group remains small and all attending follow the advice of the Montana Department of Health and Human Services and the Center for Disease Control. Those not wishing to eat together in close quarters can of course opt out of the cafe breakfast at 8:30 and join in at the Swan River School parking lot at 9:30 for the outdoors activity.

Carried mittens all winter and never used them, until March 14!

The Rangers took the high road . . .

. . . which turns into a nice trail before one can dive downhill to return on the low road!

It was almost cold enough to freeze the balls off the dam's log-catcher steel cable!

"It ain't cold, it's Spring," says the robin eating last Fall's juniper berries to keep warm!

This might be overdoing the "social distancing" and "quarantine" thing!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When recreating in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Everyone is welcome!
