Swan Rangers Get the Drift of the Apocalypse!

Swan Crest at sunset by Keith Hammer.

Swan Rangers saw snow drifts, an avalanche and a hint of the apocalypse during their outings this past week!

Click here or scroll down for the Rangers' photos and details!

In our lead photo, Keith Hammer caught sunset colors on the Swan Crest and asks us to "guess what that big black dot is on the snowfield at left, just above the forested Peters Ridge?"

How about an avalanche along with a warning to never ski below "glide cracks!" (Keith Hammer photo with credit to Dani Mayberry for first sighting)

Keith also caught the sunset that cast those nice colors in his lead photo!

Chris Gotschalk found a "pipeline" snowdrift very tempting to surf, especially if you are the size of a squirrel!

Pat Jaquith found some beautiful drifts along the river!

Ruth Quist found a camouflaged Bald eagle and . . .

. . . a Great blue heron giving her the cold shoulder!

Keith Hammer and Pam saw a dozen Robins feeding on Buckthorn berries and spreading spring fever around!

Norma Linsky provides us another grand view of a peak in Glacier National Park while . . .

. . . Pat Jaquith provides us a close-up of graupel on ice!

Pam Willison provides us an impressionistic view of the full moon!

Pam's archive photo of these alpine lakes along the Swan Crest was taken before the big Chinese balloon passed over Montana, while . . .

. . . John Larson provides us the perfect "after the balloon" photo . . . . . . . . . even though it was taken during his recent hike over some volcanic alpine terrain in New Zealand!
