Swan Rangers Find Both Sides of Krause Basin!

Ice over North Krause Creek (Keith Hammer photos, Joni Mitchell tune "Both Sides Now")

Nine Swan Rangers hiked to a Joni Mitchell tune in Krause Basin on Saturday, November 2, 2019!

Snow on the ground told wonderful stories through wildlife tracks!

Through hemlock trees and fallen snow

In Krause Basin streams do flow

Had we not gone, we'd never know

Finding friends along the way

Tracks of cats . . .

. . . and tracks of bears

Tracks of cat in with the bear's

Indeed their tracks were everywhere

Among friends it seemed that way

We've looked at friends . . .

. . . from both sides now

Sometimes silly, oh and how

Big cats and bears and hemlocks tall

We're all just friends out there after all

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game hunting season runs Oct 26 - Dec 1, so wear some bright colors while hiking out there!

Everyone is welcome!
