Swan Rangers found abundant beauty and wildlife in the Swan Range and elsewhere in the week ending August 29, 2020!

While the Swan Ranger Saturday group outings remain suspended until further notice due to the coronavirus pandemic, we will get a report out each week with items of interest to folks trying to get outside for some "social distancing" and spirit-calming fresh air.

 

Pam Willison participated in Flathead Audubon's Hawk Watch on the shoulder of Mount Aeneas, where she took our lead photo and this one of a hawk-watcher blending into the fireweed!

 

It is close quarters with mountain goats on Mount Aeneas, where Pam photographed this one above Picnic Lakes!

 

Dee Blank hiked to the top of Mount Aenas and also sent in great photos of a goat . . .

 

. . . a wild bee enjoying fireweed blossoms . . .

 

. . . a grouse . . .

 

. . . and the zigzag ridge trail to the peak!

Keith Hammer played photographer as he and Pam hiked from Highway 2 up the South Fork Flathead River . . .

 

. . . to the Swan Range's Fawn Creek! Along the way they found red, black and golden wild raspberries . . .

 

. . . and lots of not-to-be-eaten Pacific yew berries reported to contain toxic seeds!
