Swan Rangers Enjoy Sub-Zero Snow!

Swan Range near Solstice by Pat Jaquith

Swan Rangers enjoyed snow and sub-zero temperatures during their outings this past week, even if they got no further than the front porch!

We hope you enjoyed (or at least survived) Winter Solstice and wish you the Happiest of Holidays!

In our lead photo, Pat Jaquith captures those baby blue and baby pink colors on the Swan Range that are at their best around Winter Solstice!

Pat captured similar colors in this photo with Glacier Park peaks in the background.

Ruth Quist sent in this nice photo of a Flicker and . . .

. . . Pam Willison noted that, at -10 degrees F, these usually feisty Flickers decided to cooperate and share the suet!

Pam took a sub-zero ski tour to see how the snow looked on White pine . . .

. . . Grand fir . . .

. . . and Spruce!

Pam also found some very elastic snow hanging off the eave of the outhouse, which is very handy to have when the power goes out at -20 and there's no water to flush the indoor toilet!

In our parting shot, Pam reminds us that a wood stove and a full wood shed are good things to have when the power goes out at -20, even if it appears you had to order your wood in from Amazon one box at a time!
