Swan Rangers Stroll Krause Loop!

A pine grosbeak watched the Rangers pass by! (Keith Hammer photos)

Sixteen Swan Rangers strolled a six-mile loop in Krause Basin on Saturday, November 14, 2015!

It was a balmy day for the middle of November!

We'll be seeing more group photos at this fork in the road as winter makes Krause Basin all the more popular!

And winter appears to be on its way, if the frosting on Peters Ridge is any indication!

But these ferns continue to provide a rainbow of color while turning from green to gold!

Recent rains and higher elevation snow have turned Krause Creek milky!

We should have visited Cottonwood Bottom on Halloween!

An old "nurse log" sprouting young western hemlock trees!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Wearing "hunter orange" until season ends November 29 is also a good idea!

Everyone is welcome!
