Swan Rangers Span Continental Divide!

Five Swan Rangers hiked to their cars in a drenched parking lot on Saturday, October 22, while four others hiked to the Gallatin River under sunny skies!

My, what a difference a Continental Divide makes!

Meanwhile, younger Swan Rangers were being recruited on a hike from Manhattan, MT, to the Gallatin River! (Keith Hammer photos from here on)

 

The Headwaters Trails hike/bike path near the Gallatin River offers great views of the Bridger Mountains . . .

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 7:30, leaving at 8:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills. (Hours shift an hour later starting Nov 5!)

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

When hiking in bear country, remember to carry bear spray and avoid the 3-D's: dawn, dusk, and darkness.

Big game hunting season runs Oct 22 - Nov 27, so wear "hunter orange" when hiking!
