Thirteen Swan Rangers skied Bog Road in the Swan River Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, January 17, 2015!

The day started with a bit of ground fog beneath a clear, sunny sky!

Critter tracks lead the way toward the Mission Range . . .

 

. . . leaving the Swan Range behind!

 

An open lead of water shows sign of otter and other critters - and issues a challenge in route selection . . .

 

. . . to reach the Swan River!

 

The river banks display the subtle forms that make winter and snow extra special!

 

A small rodent meets its end via the double pounce of a large winged creature!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.
