Swan Rangers Ski Swan Refuge!

Group photo taken from way in the rear! (Keith Hammer photos)

Twenty Swan Rangers skied and snowshoed Bog Road in the Swan River National Wildlife Refuge on a subdued Saturday, January 9, 2016!

It was not the usual sunny day chosen for our visit, but it was equally wonderful in the full hush of winter and gently falling snow!

Click here for more info about the Refuge, which is located a couple miles south of the town of Swan Lake.

A hint of sun or thinner clouds to the south!

Sixmile and Hall Mountains had their heads in the clouds to the north!

Cattails along the way to the Swan River, with the Mission Mountains in the background!

The Swan River at the base of the Mission Mountains.

Cottonwood buds near the river sit fat and waiting to open from Fall until Spring!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

Everyone is welcome!
