Swan Rangers Ski Spider Bowl, NOT!

Recent avalanches ran downslope of underlying glide cracks in Spider Bowl! (Keith Hammer photos)

Fifteen Swan Rangers did not ski the avalanche prone Spider Bowl on Saturday, March 8, instead viewing it from a distance while snowshoeing a loop over Krause Knob!

It was a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the low country as the backcountry sheds itself of recent heavy snows!

Was it supposed to be this nice today?

The Rangers practice their uphill snowshoeing in anticipation of their annual climb up Infinity Ridge once the snow settles a bit!

A nice view of Flathead Lake from Krause Knob, which lays between the old Krause Basin Road and Strawberry Lake Road.

Will the snowmobilers that abonded their flattened inner tube please drag it on home?

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

Everyone is welcome!
