Swan Rangers Ski South Krause!

The old route up South Krause Creek is a winter wonderland! (Keith Hammer photos)

Twelve Swan Rangers broke trail through deep snow up South Krause Creek on Saturday, December 26, 2015!

They made it all the way up to the Strawberry Lake Road, which provided a loop return to Foothill Road!

The day began with a gorgeous full moon setting in the west!

Then it was "hi-ho, hi-ho, a-breaking trail we go!"

"Cottonwood bottom" along South Krause Creek.

Western hemlock trees exhibit the best kind of holiday hangover!

Pinedrops all dressed up for the holidays!

Though Strawberry Lake Road is not as pristine as the old route along South Krause Creek, it offers a bit more sunshine . . .

. . . and an occasional glimpse of "civilization" along the way!

The Swan Rangers meet every Saturday at the Echo Lake Cafe for breakfast at 8:30, leaving at 9:30 for a partial day outing in the northern Swan Mountains and foothills.

They carpool from the Swan River School parking lot next to the Cafe.

Everyone is welcome - especially young people that like to break trail for their elders!
